Kendal Town Center Cenotaph.

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 5th November, 2011

£755.12 !!!!!

Kendal Town center war memorial, with jeeps from Phil, Simon, Stuart and Martin,

and Homeguard representatives John and Roger...

This year, we decided to collect at the war memorial again, a week earlier than normal, as there would be no cadets out in force. It was a fabulous day, cold but the sun came out to warm our chilled bones. There were plenty of keen shoppers with a few pounds to spare, and more than one old war story.  With the display of jeeps and uniforms, we had quite a busy day. So many thanks to every body who supported us......

Many thanks to the collectors for the day,

Pte. Roger Prestom, Cap. Philip Russell, LCpl. John Ward, Cpl. Martin Russell, Pvt, Rupert Fox

Elizabeth (90!) had a few tales to tell about like in Kendal during the war....

On the Sunday, we were privileged to, again,  be asked to march with the legion on their parade, and had a lot of positive comments from the legion and old soldiers.

The Homeguard were also given a wreath by the RBL, to lay at the cenotaph.

L to R --  Lawrence, Seamus. Steve, Roger and John
