Low
Bentham Village.
24th April, 2010

Elaine was approached by some ladies of
Low Bentham to sing at a 1940's night, in aid of Help For Heroes that
they were organizing. They asked her if she would go along and sing for half
an hour for free. She had a talk with the Home guard and decided that
Elaine would do all the entertainment for the evening and the Homeguard do the
door and drill etc..................They were very grateful for the offer and
accepted.
The organizing committee had done the room out
brilliantly with camo nets, ammo boxes, bunting, a jeep bonnet and sand bags. We
were very impressed with the effort gone into outfits. These people were not
1940's re-enactors but got in the spirit of things. They couldn't do the
dancing but were very willing to learn to stroll and Charleston and try they did.
A lot of locals came to the dance, didn't know
what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised and asked when there was going
to be another one!!!!! Lots of things were donated for the evening so a good
amount of money was raised. Overall a very busy evening enjoyed by all.
Just
a small word on their behalf, the members of the Ingleton Homeguard do not
charge any money for doing charity appearances, not even petrol money. All the
money raised goes to the specified charity.
Total Raised
£2,287
